Basketball is for everyone
Utilizing The Den Sports Facility and Element Sportsplex, AWAKE Basketball is taking competitive sports to new levels, by offering an education through experience component to our program. Exposure expands the mind, which expands the possibilities for our male and female athletes' ages 6-17 years old.

Leadership Team
The staff at AWAKE teaches by experience sharing. Every leader has competed at the high school level, several boast successful Division I careers as well as having played professional basketball. There is no substitute for experience.

Founder, AWAKE Basketball
Brandon Johnson
Brandon Johnson is a former University of San Diego standout, finishing his career as one of the most accomplished players in program history and among the school’s all-time leaders in scoring, assists, and steals. After college, Brandon continued his basketball journey professionally, including an opportunity with the Phoenix Suns Summer League, before playing professionally overseas.
Brandon created AWAKE Basketball with a vision bigger than wins and losses. Unlike programs built around constantly recruiting new players or replacing kids for the next best talent, AWAKE is built around family, commitment, development, and loyalty. We take the word “coach” seriously. Our coaches are committed to teaching, mentoring, holding players accountable, and helping each athlete grow day by day.
Our philosophy is simple: “Progress is a process.” We believe basketball is for everyone, and every child deserves an opportunity to learn, compete, develop confidence, and become better both on and off the court.
Through basketball, AWAKE teaches hard work, leadership, accountability, character, teamwork, discipline, and a competitive spirit. We want our players to become better basketball players, but more importantly, better young men and women.
At AWAKE, we are not just building teams. We are building a family, creating lifelong friendships, teaching life lessons, and developing young people through the game of basketball.
