What actually happens in a session
Skills
Shooting, ball handling, footwork, passing, defense. The little details, taught as details — foot position before the catch, hands ready, the second dribble.
Game IQ
Offensive and defensive concepts, reads, decision-making. Knowing what the defense is giving you before you get the ball. The part most programs skip.
Education Through Experience
Exposure, life skills, and mentoring carried over from the AWAKE Program and the No Script nonprofit. Kids leave with more than a jump shot.

Brandon Johnson
Brandon Johnson found basketball out of necessity. A good kid in a hard situation — poverty, homelessness, a parent lost to incarceration — he found refuge on an AAU team and turned it into a Division I scholarship at the University of San Diego, where he became the only men’s basketball player in West Coast Conference history to leave a school as the all-time leader in both scoring and assists. He earned Freshman All-American honors, First Team All-WCC, and WCC Tournament MVP, then competed with the Phoenix Suns in Summer League and the Washington Wizards in preseason.
What came next is the part he teaches from. Brandon served six months in prison for point-shaving during his final college season. He kept training through the case and the sentence, and went on to play eight professional seasons overseas across Europe, South America, and China. He now speaks nationally as a Sports Betting Awareness Ambassador, founded the No Script nonprofit in 2020, and built the AWAKE Program to give kids the life skills he had to learn the hard way.
Life has no script — but effort, perseverance, and faith turn commitment into visible success.
