Code of Conduct
AWAKE Basketball has implemented the following Code of Conduct centered around the 5 values we stand on: Commitment, Communication, Accountability, Family and Education Through Experience. This Code of Conduct presented by AWAKE basketball sets the expectations for our Staff members, our Players, our Parent/Legal Guardians, and our Fans.

-
Consistency is key, if you don’t make the commitment, you will be left to accept the results, “you are who you can guard.”
-
Attendance is mandatory for all practices, competitions, and events, unless there is a valid reason. It is encouraged to be at least 30 minutes early for practices and 1 hour early for games, this will ensure the athlete is fully prepared to compete. Be sure to account for travel time.
-
Refrain from scheduling outside activities, including vacations that conflict with practices, competitions, or events. We are a TEAM, and one individual missing impacts the success of the entire team.
-
I agree not to participate in any other organization outside of AWAKE Basketball which is in direct conflict with practices, leagues, and/or tournaments with the team I have committed to unless approved by AWAKE Leadership.
COMMITMENT:
-
Respect the Coaches decisions on how practices, games, and activities are operated, trust the player development, and commit to the process. Persistent disruptive behavior during practices, games, and activities will have a penalty that is decided by your Coach.
-
Respect Officials - treat contest officials with respect; don't complain about or argue with official calls or decisions during or after an athletic event.
-
Refrain from instructing players before, during or after the game as it may conflict with the coach’s game plans and strategies.
-
Please be aware of your nonverbal communication (body language), they are powerful communication tools and can easily display negative energy.
-
Treat all persons respectfully, regardless of individual differences or opinions.
-
AWAKE Basketball will not tolerate hostile and disruptive behavior by staff, parents, or fans. Don't engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort including profanity, obscene gestures, offensive remarks of a sexual or racial nature, trash talking, taunting, boastful celebrations, or other actions that demean individuals or the sport.

-
Be willing to specifically call out others on performance or behaviors that might hurt the team/organization.
-
Responsibility equals accountability equals ownership. Accept responsibility for consequences of actions; don’t make excuses or blame others.
-
This is a competitive sports environment; it will not be fair. Focus on what you can control, your effort and your attitude.
